光緒 Transitional Style Wucai Lion Handle Box

A Ming styled rectangular covered box painted in the wucai palette with dragons and phoenix amongst flames and clouds. The cover mounted with a handle of opposing lion heads. The flat unglazed base with a recessed rectangular section wherein the apocryphal kaishu reign mark of the 明萬曆帝 Ming Emperor Wanli is painted in underglaze blue within a double line enclosure under a clear glaze.

Condition: Excellent, restored chip on lower corner of box.
