康熙 Kangxi Copper Red Alms Bowl

A rare copper red glazed alms bowl with rounded sides swelling outward to the shoulder turning inward to the mouth rim covered in a deep raspberry red glaze. The dark red thick glaze suffused with darker mottling draining from the rim to leave it white deepening in tone slightly at the foot where the red glaze stops in a even line above the foot rim exposing a hint of white beneath it. The body rests on an unglazed foot from which a channel is formed by the inclusion of a second lower glazed foot rim on the base. The interior and base are glazed white with the mark and period of Kangxi written in horizontal format in underglaze blue centered on the base.
清代 Qing Dynasty, 康熙 Kangxi Period (1662-1722)
Height: 4 5/8" (11.8cm) 8 5/8" (21.9cm)
Condition:  A long hairline crack extending from the rim down the side to the bottom of the bowl visible on the interior but almost imperceptible on the exterior.
