康熙 Kangxi Gilt Decorated Mirror Black Rouleau Vase (Bangchuiping)

A very fine and rare rouleau vase (bangchuiping) covered in a mirror black glaze with the decoration reserved in gilt. The galleried rim is painted with a spiraling border and on the bow string ribbed neck swastikas and shou medallions are framed by a crosshatch border and a further spiral border. On the front and rear sides of the vase within rectangular panels are fierce four clawed writhing serpentine dragons and to either side are two further cartouches enclosing a deer and a crane all reserved on blossoming lotus flowers and meandering tendril gilt brocade beneath  four babao reserved on a diaper ground on the shoulder. Above the foot is a vertical lined border. The base is glazed white with numerous "pigs bristle" burst bubbles present. On the base are a pair of concentric circles in underglaze blue.

Condition:  Several chips to the foot rim.
