A pair of early 19th century miniature iron red (rouge
de fer) pear shaped vases
modeled after archaic bronze hu form vases with animal handles. The
bulbous body rests upon a splayed foot, above the sloping shoulders on opposing
sides are molded dog heads with rings suspended from their mouths. The
interior and inverted foot rim are covered in a clear glaze. |
