Pair of 雍正 Yongzheng Underglaze Blue & Red Dragon Saucers

A rare pair of 18th century underglaze red and blue Ming style saucer dishes featuring a full-faced 4 clawed dragon in the well of the dish. The cavetto decorated with fish leaping amongst turbulent waves. The reverse decorated in a like manner. On the bottom of the dishes within double rings are six character kaishu marks and of the period in underglaze blue of Yongzheng. It is rare to find pieces employing underglaze red that actually fires a red color instead of brownish in tone.

Provenance:  Vermeer & Griggs Collection No. 666 and  No. 667
Condition:  Both dishes have a firing crack at the rim.
