嘉靖 Jiajing Susancai Dragon Bowl

A rare deep bowl with rounded sides rising to an everted rim and raised on a high ring foot covered in an emerald green glaze and painted with two aubergine Imperial five clawed dragons pursuing the flaming pearl amongst fiery clouds above a ruyi lappet border. The interior is glazed in a rich egg yolk yellow glaze that is slightly worn in the well. On the base between two concentric underglaze blue rings is the six character mark and period of the 嘉靖帝 Jiajing emperor, Houcong. The foot rim is unglazed and there are glaze fractures in the clear glaze on the base.

Condition: Excellent with the exception of glaze fractures in the clear glaze on the base, wear to the yellow glaze on the interior bottom of the bowl.
