道光 Daoguang Shou Character Bowl

A finely potted bowl of steeply rounded sides raised on a high foot decorated with shou characters in iron red enamel (tie hong or fan hong) against the white ground ( gai xu hong, red and white). Painted in the well of the bowl the three fruits of the sanduo, also known as the 'Three Abundances' or 'Three Plenties'. The peach, fruiting pomegranate and the citron fruit (Buddha's hand) known collectively as the sanduo, form wishes for long life-longevity (peach), good fortune-happiness (citron) and male posterity (pomegranate). On the base in zhuanshu script is the seal mark and period of the Daoguang Emperor.

Condition:  Excellent, no chips, cracks or restorations. Slight fading of enamel on three columns of characters seen in the picture below on the left side.
