萬曆 Wanli Flanged Double Gourd Vase

A late Ming aubergine glazed flanged double gourd vase, the lower bulb of campana shape and the upper bulb shouldered below the short neck, each section encircled by four vertical notched flanges, covered overall in a rich purple qiepi zi  (aubergine-eggplant skin purple) glaze pooling around the base which is unglazed and with a shallow rounded foot rim.
明代 Ming Dynasty, 萬曆 Wanli Period (1573-1619)
Height:  6 1/4" (16 cm)
Provenance:  Sotheby's London, Fine Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art, 11 December 1990, lot 258
Condition: Firing hair crack, three flanges with minor damage.
