乾隆 Qianlong Square Form Imperial Yellow Bowl

An extremely rare imperial scrap bowl of square section with steep flaring sides rising to a lipped rim covered overall in a brilliant glossy egg yolk yellow glaze (huang you). Incised in the well of the bowl is a writhing dragon. On each of the curved sides are incised ferocious dragons in various twisted positions amongst flames and flaming pearls above turbulent waves. Centered on the white glazed base is the zhuanshu mark of the Qianlong emperor, Hongli.

Condition: Excellent, minor chip on the corner of the foot rim.
