乾隆 Qianlong Archaic Hu Form Vase

A Qianlong hu form vase, the shape based on a bronze form, covered entirely in a delicate pale blue-green Ru type glaze.  From a splayed foot the steeply rounded body rises flaring outward and turns inward at the shoulder continuing upward to form the neck and the glaze thins to white at this juncture. The neck rises in a graceful inward curve and then curves outward to a galleried rim. Two ruyi shaped handles with bifurcated scrolling tendrils are mounted in opposing position on the tall tubular ribbed neck with the glaze thinning leaving the mouth rim edge white. The recessed base is also glazed and the foot rim is painted with an iron dressing.
