乾隆 Qianlong Powder Blue Glazed Vase

A fine rare baluster shaped vase raised on a widely splayed rounded foot. The steep rounded sides rising to a flattened shoulder, the neck incurves from a vertical base flaring outwards terminating in a galleried rim. The waisted neck is set with opposing fanged tiger head handles and the vase is covered on the exterior in a deep even powder blue glaze thinning just below the rim leaving it white and stopping just short of the foot rim. The interior is glazed white and the base is unglazed and the biscuit is burnt a brownish tone from the firing. An identical vase is illustrated in the book, Minjian micang Zhongguo gutaoci jianshang: Xiande jingshe cangpin xiezhen (Appreciation of Hidden Treasures of Ancient Chinese Ceramics Selected from the Collection at Xiande Abode),  Pei Guanghui, plate 70, page 44, published 2001, ISBN 7-5393-1064-2.
