Kangxi Powder Blue Gilt Foliated Saucer Dish

A 17th century saucer dish in the shape of a lotus blossom with foliate edge and lobed cavetto. The interior and exterior covered in a powder blue glaze over which is painted in gilt scrolling leafy tendrils with blossoming lotus flowers. The edge of the dish is left white. On the base within underglaze blue concentric rings is one of the symbols of the Ba Bao or Eight Treasures. This and other symbols appeared in place of the six character reign mark in the early years of the Kangxi period.
