Kangxi Coral Red (Shan Hu Hong)Vase

A very rare coral red (shan hu hong) enameled vase of slender elongated pear shape.  The neck rises from a raised bowstring band that encircles the shoulder and flares widely terminating in a galleried lipped rim.  The body rests on a wide splayed stepped foot.  The interior and base are covered in a gray crackled glaze.  The coral red glaze is tinted slightly pinkish in tone.
Qing Dynasty, Kangxi Period (1662-1722)

Provenance:  Vermeer & Griggs Collection No. 449
Condition:  There are several burst glaze bubbles on the rib and enamel bubbles at the foot and under the mouth rim and what appears to be a star glaze crack on the base is not but is where the craquelure absorbed more tint, overall excellent condition.
