康熙 Kangxi Copper Red Miniature Sleeve Vase

A Kangxi miniature cylindrical vase, the shape generally referred to as a sleeve vase, with waisted short neck and flaring rim covered in a thick translucent bubble suffused copper red glaze.  The interior and base are glazed white and there is evidence of burnt red biscuit where the glaze stops neatly short of the foot.  The exposed foot rim displays the tight compact paste characteristic of the period.  The vase was apparently used as a medicine or master snuff bottle and has a lapis lazuli top.
