Pair of Large 康熙 Kangxi Langyao Bowls

A pair of large deep bowls from the Lang kiln with steep rounded sides raised on a high foot. The bowls are covered in a rich raspberry red glaze both inside and out over a crackled glaze beneath. The red glaze thinning from the rim leaving the rim white and darkening in the bottoms of the bowls and at the foot. The base is also glazed red and the foot rims show the tight compact paste typical of the period. An almost identical bowl to this pair is in the Percival David Foundation, London.
