嘉靖 Jiajing Imperial Yellow Saucer Dish

A heavily potted Imperial deep saucer dish with a wide everted rim raised on a tall ring foot covered overall in a thick imperial yellow transparent glaze except the base which is covered in a clear glaze under which the six character kaishu mark of the 嘉靖帝 Jiajing emperor, Houcong, enclosed by concentric rings is painted in underglaze blue. The foot is unglazed though there are areas the yellow glaze ran onto the foot.

Provenance:  Vermeer & Griggs Collection No. 544
Condition:  Minor rim frits restored, scratches in the glaze conducive to use.
