光緒 Guangxu Yellow Enameled Bronze-Form (Gui) Altar Vessel

An archaic styled bronze form covered altar food vessel (gui), the interior and exterior covered in a lemon yellow, orange peel (ju-pi) textured enamel. The exterior body is incised with archaistic border motifs and a taotie mask framed by key fret borders and adorned with archaic styled kui dragon handles. On each side of the cover is an inscription in jinwen archaic metal script. The base is glazed yellow and centered on the bottom written in kaishu script in underglaze blue within a white oblong reserve is the six character mark and period of the 光緒  Guangxu Emperor.

  Length:  8 3/8" (21.3 cm) Width:  5 1/8" (13.1 cm)
Condition:  Excellent, tiny chip on corner of the body.
