A Large 19th C 光緒 Guangxu Mirror Black Bottle Vase

A large 19th C 光緒 Guangxu mirror black (wujin, "black bronze") glazed bottle vase, the glaze thinning to brown at the mouth. The body of slight ovoid form with a tall cylindrical neck. The base is covered in an orange-peel white glaze with the black glaze ground at the foot rim.  On the bottom between concentric rings in underglaze blue is the apocryphal mark of Kangxi. The brilliant deep effect of this mirror-like surface was achieved by multiple coats of the black bronze wujin glaze containing a combination of iron and manganese oxides with the addition of small amounts of cobalt and copper.
清代 Qing dynasty, 光緒 Guangxu Period (1875-1908)

Condition: Excellent, no chips, cracks or repairs.
