崇禎 Chongzhen Aubergine Lion Mask Handled Censer

A 17th C late 明代 Ming 崇禎 Chongzhen bombé bronze form censer, the compressed bulbous body sits atop a splayed foot, rising to a slightly everted flat rim with opposing male lion-headed handles mounted on the shoulder covered entirely in a deep eggplant purple toned glaze. The bottom shows evidence of radial chatter marks from the potter's wheel.
明代 Ming Dynasty, 崇禎 Chongzhen Period (1628-1644)

Height:  2" (5.1cm)  Diameter mouth:  4 5/8" (11.8cm)
Condition: Multiple chips on the rim, wear showing on the glaze in the interior and exterior of the censer.
