乾隆 Qianlong Celadon Ge-Type Crackled Plate
A large heavily potted shallow dish with up-turned rounded sides
raised on a ring foot that has been dressed with an iron brown wash. The
dish is covered in a pale celadon Geyao type glaze with widely spaced iron wire
and finer golden thread crackles (jinsi tiexian). On
the recessed base there is a smaller finer crackle with seven iron spur marks
imitating the support marks seen on Song Ge wares. Eighteenth century Geyao in
imitation of Song Ge wares was produced in varied shapes mostly based on
archaic bronze forms. It was
immensely popular and was particularly associated with the Qianlong Imperial
kiln. The Imperial reign mark was deliberately omitted on dishes of the
Qianlong Ge-type wares. The Qianlong Emperor's love for all things archaic
led to the re-creation of many of the old glazes and forms produced in the past. |
