道光 Daoguang Famille Rose Wall Vase

An exquisitely well painted wall vase of squat baluster form.  From the short flared neck the generous wide shoulders rapidly curve inward to a narrow base profile with a recessed foot.  The vase is decorated in the famille rose palette in the manner of Qianlong, vividly painted in fencai enamels depicting a pair of quail on a grassy knoll beneath large rocks and tree surrounded by blooming chrysanthemums and lilies.  The interior, base and reverse of the vase are glazed white.  There are fourteen spur marks on the reverse and two sets of holes to fasten the vase to the stand and a notched opening for hanging the vase on the wall.
