康熙 Kangxi Famille Jaune Yen Yen Vase

An extremely rare Kangxi period famille jaune yen yen vase of magnificent detail and quality. The baluster-form body rising to a wide trumpet-shaped rim supported on a splayed foot enameled overall on a mottled lemon yellow ground in the famille verte palette of a scene of butterflies fluttering around a mated pair of pheasants perched upon stylized rocks with cobalt blue and aubergine peonies and magnolia blossoms issuing from the rocky surround. The trumpet neck is adorned with chrysanthemums and peonies cascading downward from outcropping rocks. The unglazed stepped foot displays the fine, compact paste this period is noted for. Within the foot rim is an underglaze blue double ring, the whole covered in a clear glaze stopping at the edge of the foot rim exemplifying the remarkable artisans' talent juxtaposed with minute "pig bristle".
