康熙 Kangxi Polychrome Baluster Vase
A large baluster form vase raised on a stepped foot
decorated in green, iron red and gilt enamels with opposing ruyi shaped
cloud collar borders of chrysanthemum vine at the shoulder and base framing single
stylized feathery lotus flower sprigs of iron red and silver gilt which encircle the
body and also on the neck. The shoulder encircled with a leiwen (thunder pattern) border interrupted by four quatrefoil cartouches
enclosing Buddhistic auspicious emblems. The rim is decorated with
borders of swirling classic scroll and pendant linked ruyi heads, the base bearing underglaze blue concentric circles. |
