宋代 Song Russet Splashed Partridge-Feather
Black
Glazed Conical Tea Bowl
A northern black ware of Cizhou type conical form
wan bowl probably from the Guantai kilns in Hebei with wide flaring sides
rising to an everted rim, the interior covered with a thick orange
peeled black glaze splashed with russet markings (partridge-feather
mottles) and thinning to russet
on the rim. The exterior covered with a glossy black glaze falling
short of the shallow ring foot. Developed from early Tang glazes the
glaze on this bowl is a fine example of the Song dark brown iron-rich
glaze with russet splashes that contain an even higher percentage of
iron. The Song potters utilized more refined raw materials and higher
firing temperatures to achieve a greater contrast and control than seen
in Tang wares. Similar examples have been in the James E. Breece III
Collection, Stephen Junkunc III Collection, Edward T Chow Collection,
T.Y Chao Collection, Eugene Bernat Collection. |
