康熙 Kangxi Doucai Dragon and Fish Saucer

A shallow saucer with rounded sides raised on a ring foot. The interior decorated in doucai enamels with a full faced five clawed Imperial dragon centered in the bottom of the dish amidst flames and clouds encircled by an underglaze blue double line border. The cavetto painted with four carp, two red and two green, leaping above frothy waves beneath a double line border. The design is emblematic of the examinations for Imperial service. The exterior decorated with double line borders beneath the rim and also on the foot with frothy waves painted above the foot. On the base within concentric underglaze blue circles is written the honorific six character kaishu mark of the 成化 Chenghua Emperor.
清代 Qing Dynasty, 康熙 Kangxi Period (1662-1722)
Diameter:  6 3/16" (15.7cm)
  Condition:  Two chips to the rim, two parallel hairline cracks, losses to iron red enamel shown in detail picture.
