康熙 Kangxi Doucai Stem Cup


成化 Chenghua Original, Palace Museum Collection, Beijing

A very rare doucai stem cup, the finely potted and flared bowl delicately painted in clear brilliant enamels within underglaze blue outlines with stylized lotus flowers in Chenghua style, the large spiked blooms in pale yellow, iron-red, and underglaze blue, with different colored centers, borne on a fleshy green undulating stem with curled leaves and buds.  The body supported on a tall hollow splayed foot encircled by a raised rib below the base of the cup, all between single underglaze blue lines, repeated on the interior rim.  Within the foot an apocryphal 成化 Chenghua underglaze blue mark is written in kaishu script in a horizontal line.
