Pair of 康熙 Kangxi Doucai Bowls
A very rare and fine pair of doucai (joined/contending colors) bowls,
the rounded sides painted on the exterior with a peach tree growing from a tall
rocks protruding from the sea. The blossoming branches appearing from below a
band of clouds, some of the iron red blooms floating amid the turbulent waves,
suggesting the well-known story of the Peach Blossom Spring, along with two
leaping red carp and a conch shell. On the interior is a similar scene,
with a flowering peach tree growing from the side of a cliff, within a double
circle, the decoration all in bright enamels within underglaze blue double line
borders. An apocryphal
