Pair of 康熙 Kangxi Doucai Bowls

A very rare and fine pair of doucai (joined/contending colors) bowls, the rounded sides painted on the exterior with a peach tree growing from a tall rocks protruding from the sea. The blossoming branches appearing from below a band of clouds, some of the iron red blooms floating amid the turbulent waves, suggesting the well-known story of the Peach Blossom Spring, along with two leaping red carp and a conch shell. On the interior is a similar scene, with a flowering peach tree growing from the side of a cliff, within a double circle, the decoration all in bright enamels within underglaze blue double line borders. An apocryphal 成化 Chenghua six character mark in kaishu script within concentric circles is on the base.
