康熙 Kangxi Dehua Figure of a Corpulent Budai

A large smiling corpulent figure of the Budai Heshang shown  wearing a large bead necklace with pendant gourd seated holding a cloth sack, his left hand supported on upraised knee. Budai Heshang, the monk with the cloth sack is regarded as a manifestation of Maitreya. The interior showing evidence of the clay pressed into a mold.
清代 Qing Dynasty, 康熙 Kangxi Period (1662-1722)
 Height:  6" (15.2cm)
Provenance: Illinois private collection.
Condition:  Excellent, no chips, cracks or restoration, minor firing faults.
