17th Century Dehua Seated Guanyin with Child

A fine and large Dehua Blanc de Chine figure of Guanyin seated in rajalalitasana (royal ease) upon open rockwork, cradling a child in her arms. Her face with a benign expression below an elaborate chignon mounted with a diadem, clothed in an elegant voluminous flowing robe falling in thick folds with long cowl draped over her high chignon. The robe is open at the chest to reveal a beaded lotus flower head necklace, her one leg crossed over the other knee, all under an ivory toned glaze.
Qing Dynasty, Kangxi Period (1662-1722)

Provenance:  Vermeer & Griggs Collection No. 636
Condition:  Firing crack in fold of the cowl, restoration to fingers, child's arms and crack around neck.
