Large 17th C 康熙 Kangxi Dehua Ribbed Censer
A large 17th C bronze form Dehua censer banded by three bowstring ribs
decorated with an archaic leiwen (thunder pattern) design stamped beneath the glaze. The body is raised on three bracket ruyi head feet covered in a creamy
ivory translucent crackled glaze. The interior walls and the bottom and base
are left unglazed. The shape like many Chinese porcelains follows closely
the archaic bronze form censers. |
