Late 17th C 康熙 Kangxi Dehua Seated Guanyin
A fine Dehua Blanc de Chine figure of Guanyin, the
goddess seated in lalitasana on a rockwork dais, her left arm leaning on
a rocky out-cropping. She is wearing a voluminous flowing robe
falling in thick folds with cowl draped over her high chignon and tiara. The robe is open at the chest to reveal a beaded lotus flower head
necklace, her one leg crossed over the raised knee. In her right
hand she holds the scroll of wisdom, her face lowered with a benign expression
below an elaborate chignon mounted with a tiara all under a grayed white toned glaze. |
