A Fine 17th Century Dehua Figure

A fine 17th century, dehua figure of Tudi (Protecting Spirit of Rural Places) by Chen Wei, one of the hermit potters.  The bearded figure heavily potted shown in flowing robes and beribboned hat seated on a low throne.  This much respected deity, the Earth God, is widely seen in China in roadside shrines and is often set beside figures of Guanyin.
17th C Ming or early Qing Dynasty 
Height:  8 3/4" (19.7cm)
Condition:  Small firing chip on left front leg of the throne mostly visible on the base, some expected wear (dulling) of the glaze conducive to age.
