17th C Dehua Libation Magnolia Cup
A Dehua libation cup of rhinoceros horn form applied with
magnolia and prunus flowering branches that form an openwork base, covered in an
ivory toned translucent glaze. P. J. Donnelly refers to this type of cup
as the "Magnolia Cup" and he describes it as "perhaps the most
characteristic product of Dehua". Circa 1640. |
