Late 明代 Ming Dehua Libation Cup

A late Ming Dehua libation cup molded in the form of a rhinoceros horn with applied decoration covered in a creamy translucent glaze. On one side are portrayed contesting dragons and to the other side a stag with overhanging clouds and magnolia branches. Circa 1640.
明代 Ming Dynasty, 崇禎 Chongzhen Period (1628-1644)
Height:  2 3/8" ( 6cm) Length:  4 3/4" (12.1cm)  Width:  3 5/8" (9.2cm)
Condition: Firing cracks evident on the base.
