元代 Yuan Longquan Celadon Peony Charger

A large dish (charger) the rounded sides rising to a flanged and ribbed lip supported on a ring foot.  In the well of the dish a blossoming peony flower is inscribed beneath the translucent pale celadon glaze.  On the cavetto are two further blossoms in opposing positions with trailing foliage.  The reverse is undecorated and covered with a finely crackled glaze including the foot-rim with the base unglazed and burnt red in firing.

Condition:  Excellent, dish is typically slightly warped in firing.
