元代 Yuan Dynasty Ring Handled Kinuta Celadon Vase

An extremely rare and fine pear-shaped vase, the globular body atop a high barbed foot rising to a flared barbed mouth-rim, often referred to as a skirt mouth rim popular in the Jin dynasty, the whole ribbed to the barb end-points. At the indentation of the neck are two animal heads holding pendant rings from their mouths. The vase is covered in an unctuous, transparent sea-foam green celadon glaze known by the Japanese term kinuta, meaning mallet, for a very famous Song mallet vase that was covered in an incomparable fine celadon colored glaze revered by the Japanese.
