Pair of 乾隆 Qianlong Blue Celadon Ribbed Begonia Vases

An extremely rare pair of Imperial blue-celadon begonia shaped vases (the shape sometimes also referred to as olive shaped), the body ribbed between bowstring borders framed by a wide undecorated band at the base and top.  The vases covered in a fine blue hued celadon glaze and only the foot is exposed revealing the fine white paste.  The base is deeply inset and the zhuanshu seal mark and period of the Qianlong Emperor is centered beneath the glaze in underglaze blue.

Provenance:  Vermeer & Griggs Collection No. 239 & 240
Condition: Excellent, no chips, cracks or restoration. Glaze pull on body of one.
