Pair of 乾隆 Qianlong Celadon Zhadou Vessels
A pair of Ming styled waste containers (zhadou) with
a bulbous body raised on a ring foot and widely flaring incurved mouth.
The vessels were used for bones at the dinner table. The zhadou are
covered in a thick orange peel textured celadon glaze beneath which is incised
large lotus flowers and leaves. On the base in underglaze blue is the
apocryphal mark of the Ming Emperor Jiajing. |
