Pair of 乾隆 Qianlong Celadon Zhadou Vessels

A pair of Ming styled waste containers (zhadou) with a bulbous body raised on a ring foot and widely flaring incurved mouth.  The vessels were used for bones at the dinner table. The zhadou are covered in a thick orange peel textured celadon glaze beneath which is incised large lotus flowers and leaves. On the base in underglaze blue is the apocryphal mark of the Ming Emperor Jiajing.

Height:  4 3/8" (11.1cm) and 4 1/4" (10.8cm)
