Large 早明 Early Ming Longquan Celadon Tripod Censer

A large early Ming Dynasty Longquan celadon tripod censer, of stoutly potted circular form supported on three feline-mask feet. The round sides molded with the bagua (Eight Trigrams) between a border of freely incised combed floral scrollwork encircling the base and rim. The censer is applied overall with a thick olive-green glaze except for the unglazed center of the sunken base and interior which are burnt red in the firing. Displayed on a carved rosewood stand carved with lotus petal shapes and jade foo dog handled rosewood cover.

Condition: Old restoration to rim, cracks in wood lid.
