早明 Early Ming Celadon Barbed Edged Dish
A fine large and exquisitely carved Longquan dish, the rounded lobed
sides rising to an everted foliated barbed rim. Within the center is carved a
floral spray of a single petaled chrysanthemum flower with foliage and in the
cavetto further carvings of ruyi heads decorate each panel. The barbed
ribbed edge rim exhibits a carved serpentine leafy scroll pattern. The
exterior is carved with simplistic meandering leafy tendrils terminating in a
flower-head, all beneath a thick olive-toned celadon glaze. The base with
an exposed ring of bisque burnt reddish in the firing. |
