明Ming 萬曆 Wanli Blue and White Tripod Censer

A classic tripod form blue and white censer, the bowl supported on three stubby feet rising to an in-turned rim. The body is decorated in penciled style with two four clawed typically cartoonish looking striding dragons in opposing position amongst flames separated by an inscribed oblong plaque reading Huang di wan sui wan wan sui, Long, long live the Emperor! The base and interior of the censer is glazed white. The decoration was probably meant to be doucai with the addition of overglaze enamels.

Condition:  Excellent with some burst glaze bubbles and kiln grit occurring at the time of firing on the interior.
