光緒 Guangxu Blue & White Ogee Bowl
A fine blue and white Imperial ogee bowl decorated in the center with a
full-faced flower-head medallion with overlapping petals encircled by four
peaches and four stylized lotus blossom scrolls, enclosed around the well with the Bajixiang
(eight Buddhist emblems), the
reverse with a floral frieze of eight exotic blooms above a formal border of ruyi
heads and upright leaves. This particular design in blue and white was
probably meant to have the addition of doucai enamels as this design is well
known in that motif. On the base written in kaishu script in underglaze
blue is the mark and of the period of the Guangxu Emperor. |
